Coconut blossom sugar – what is that?

The easy answer: it's sugar from the coconut palm. More precisely from the palm's blossom, which mainly grows in Southeast Asia. To harvest them, hard working labourers climb up the tall palm trees and cut off a fine layer from the blossoms. They then collect the creamy blossom syrup that flows out. This coconut blossom syrup is now boiled down, dried and finely ground to create a mass and our coconut blossom sugar is finally ready! It has a fine caramel and light vanilla flavour. Did you know that you can only extract about one litre of nectar from a coconut palm every day? This explains why coconut blossom sugar is such an exclusive and comparatively expensive product.

Coconut blossom sugar: how to use it

You can use coconut blossom sugar in the same way as ordinary refined sugar. It has delicious properties such as a caramel taste with a slight hint of vanilla and a similar sweetening power to raw cane sugar. You can therefore easily convert it and use it for cooking, baking, making jams or sweetening coffee. Ever made your own chocolate? With the chocolate recipes in our recipe page you can easily make some, using coconut blossom sugar, cocoa butter, coconut butter, coconut oil and tonka beans. You should also try to make our tiramisu cream. Pure pleasure!

Drinks with coconut water

First things first: What actually is coconut water? Drank it and found it to be good: For us, coconut water has become one of the staples in the office alongside orange and apple juice. But is it actually contained in every coconut? Coconut water is obtained from young, unripe coconuts. Depending on the degree of ripeness, a coconut can contain up to half a liter of juice. The unripe the nut, the more liquid it contains. Ripe coconuts also often contain some coconut water, but less. Coconut water therefore provides information about how long the coconut has been stored. However, a coconut with less water is no less valuable in the kitchen, it is simply used differently. This is because the firm, white flesh of the coconut is then used to make the popular coconut milk for your creamy, spicy curries. For coconut fans, nothing beats fruity, chilled coconut water - preferably fresh and straight from the coconut, of course. However, as you have to dig deeper into your wallet for fresh coconuts in Germany, we have organic coconut water in Tetra Paks for you in the store and have collected the best ideas for drinks with it here.

Toute Première Fois

0) I've been hearing about Coconut Flower Sugar for a long time, and seeing that Koro offers it, I was tempted, particularly because it contains minerals, inulin as well as a lower glycemic index than other sugars. So it would be more recommended for diabetics than cane sugar (not very refined), even if less recommended than Stevia (which remains too expensive for Europeans). 1) This Indonesian Coconut Sugar has a caramelized taste, is very fine and above all decrystallizes very quickly on contact with liquids, which is very useful for the mixing phase. It doesn't cause inflammation in the mouth (unlike ultra-refined white beet sugar), which is more than welcome. Nor do you feel addicted to this coconut blossom sugar, as it's as if you feel nourished (and not full and thirsty). 2) I wish there was the clear Coconut Sugar variant, which I hear has a less pronounced taste (if the Koro team is passing by ^^).

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =!) On the other hand, my 1Kg Sugar Pack was open when I opened the parcel (the UPS carrier kindly warned me). It must have caught a 1kg jar of agave, and some air must have remained in the sugar packet... Boom! As a result, I lost 50g of sugar which had taken on moisture. It wasn't too bad, but the box had sugar scattered all over it. Fortunately it wasn't the Agave sugar that broke, because that would have been another story...) I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to put some Scotch tape (red) on the bottom of the box too, as this 2nd package was almost open on the bottom. And the 1st package, even if it was in better condition, was quite fragile on the lower part. Then I imagine you're saving money on that (=50% tape savings).

No wieder!!!

The whole order was full of the coconut blossom sugar. Not only that my hallway and my kitchen too. First clean everything and free everything from the sticky sugar.
And as thanks I have only 250 g of the sugar.

Hello Christin, thank you for your review. We are sorry that your order arrived damaged. We will definitely pass on your feedback to our warehouse. Best regards, Your KoRo team

Insufficient information

I've been using coconut blossom sugar for a long time. On the packet, the glycemic index is missing, as is the country of origin.

Perfect for stocking up

Perfect for stocking up on and mega tasty. I sweeten coffee and tea with it.

Alternative to conventional sugar!

A great alternative to conventional sugar!

Raw sugar

Excellent product for use in sweet preparations or as a sweetener in various beverages

Seal for safety

Good. The 'only thing I received with dispersion of the product in the packaging box ( about 50 gr dispersed). The packaging is not sealed so it can 'give rise to doubts about safety and dispersion mto probably be attributable to this mode of packaging. Otherwise, the product is good, I need to check its performance in bakery confectionery products.

Great product

Great alternative to white refined sugar. Pleasant taste and the quality is also great, clumps a little but dissolves quickly.

Everything is fine, I am very satisfied. Thank you very much!

Top price, heavenly smell

Top quality and packaging at first glance 👌🏼 The smell alone is heavenly I won't test it until next week

Anna K.

Not quite as sweet and tart

For one thing, it's a great alternative to refined sugar. I don't think we need to talk about that. The taste is a little smokier and more bitter than cane sugar and it's not quite as sweet. So if you don't like it too sweet, you've come to the right place.
