Another star among the cinnamon pastries: the cinnamon buns. Fresh from the oven, our vegan cinnamon buns are guaranteed to blow you away - not literally, of course. This special ground spice is not only available in many recipes but also in our snack sectionapple chips with cinnamonalmond butter with vanilla and cinnamon and cinnamon coated apple pieces are our personal favourites around Christmas time!

From the cinnamon tree to the ground spice

Where does the brownish, pleasantly sweet spice with which we so often refine our porridge actually come from? To make the cinnamon powder, cinnamon sticks are ground. These in turn are the rolled bark of cinnamon trees, which belong to the laurel family. So what is "ceylon" cinnamon all about? ceylon cinnamon is a special type of cinnamon. Unlike cassia cinnamon - which comes from China - ceylon cinnamon comes from Sri Lanka. Cassia cinnamon sticks are coarser and thicker than those of Ceylon cinnamon. They are also darker in colour and have a more intense smell.

To produce cinnamon, the bark of the cinnamon tree is stripped of the outer layers. The Ceylon cinnamon is harvested in very thin layers of bark, which are then stitched together so that their appearance resembles a cigar. The cinnamon sticks are then dried and ground into cinnamon powder. Pretty cool, right?
You should also be careful with cinnamon when breastfeeding, as large amounts of the spice can lead to side effects. We therefore recommend that you consult with your doctor.
Our Ceylon cinnamon has a wonderfully mild, pleasantly sweet aroma. Since we have already thought that this cinnamon will simply convince every cinnamon lover, the spice comes in the practical 500 g advantage pack to your home. So you can share your favorite spice with your family members or flatmates without fearing that your next porridge will run out of cinnamon. As if that wasn't enough, we source our cinnamon from organic farms. If that's not enough of an argument for our delicious cinnamon, we don't know what is.
According to German authorities, the upper limit for cinnamon consumption is approximately 600 g per year. This corresponds to approximately 1.6 g per day.
Cassia cinnamon can be harmful to dogs due to its generally higher coumarin content. Ceylon cinnamon is harmless in small quantities and can even do your dog some good. However, you should discuss the exact amount with your veterinarian. And if you are looking for a wholesome food for your four-legged friend, take a look at our dog food assortment.
Of course, our cinnamon comes from organic farming.
To ensure that the cinnamon retains its intense aroma for as long as possible, you should store the spice in a cool, dry place. Our Ball Mason Jars are ideal for this purpose.
Our organic Cassia cinnamon is slightly spicier than the organic Ceylon cinnamon from our spice range. Cassia cinnamon sticks - from which the powder was ground, are coarser and thicker than the cinnamon sticks of Ceylon cinnamon. But this is not the only difference between the two varieties: Cassia cinnamon is darker and more intense in taste.
Clearly, our organic Ceylon cinnamon is completely vegan. Except ground cinnamon literally nothing comes into our bag, so that the spice is purely vegetable.
Yes and no - Ceylon cinnamon is definitely a better choice for your baby due to its lower coumarin content. However, only small amounts of cinnamon are enough to cause lasting harm to your baby. We therefore recommend that you do not give your baby organic Ceylon cinnamon.
Cinnamon is said to have a labor-promoting effect, but this is only noticeable when a very large amount of cinnamon is used. Cinnamon in large quantities can lead to side effects. However, the Ceylon variety in particular is not a problem for most women when taken in moderation. Nevertheless, we recommend that you consult with your doctor.

Varieties & Origin

Ceylon

Made from the inner bark of the Cinnamomum verum tree, Ceylon is the original form of cinnamon. The thinner the rind, the finer and more aromatic the cinnamon taste, which is nobler, more aromatic and less pungent than that of the Cassia variety.

Cinnamon is a very old spice that originally came from Asia. Cinnamon trees are grown on plantations and harvested immediately after the rainy season, as the bark is then fresh and moist and can be easily peeled off. The quality of the cinnamon is based on the texture and color of its quills.

Production

Fast normale Weihnachtsstimmung
