When you hear the word "crisps" in a food context, you probably think of the sometimes discredited version of the calorie-rich potato crisps. But why not try something new? There are over 2.000 different apple varieties in the UK. Well-known varieties that you have certainly come across in the supermarket include "Pink Lady", "Braeburn" and the "Gala" and "Jonagold" groups. Within the UK, apple cultivation is largely limited to the South of England in Kent, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Essey . And yet cultivation accounts for about 70 % of the total area under tree fruit. Why all these facts? To show you how diverse and ubiquitous our favourite fruit, the apple, is. As you - as an attentive product connoisseur and KoRo fan - might have guessed from the product title, our apple chips no longer have anything to do with an apple hanging on a tree. Because instead of being crunchy, they are crispy! The sweet and sour taste of our fruity crisps is complemented by intensely smelling and tasting cinnamon. Did you know that cinnamon is one of the oldest spices in the world and was already used 2000 BC, especially in China and India? BC, especially in China and India? Production of dried fruit
As you have noticed, we combine a traditional spice with the everyday star apple and have thus created a delicious product. But to make our apple chips really crunchy, a little more effort is needed in the production process. Drying is the heart of the process. In addition to freeze-drying, the so-called drying process is usually used for apple chips. With this, probably the oldest method of preservation, food can be gently dried in the air. In this context, automatic dehydrators are usually used, which work in a similar way to conventional convection ovens, only with lower temperatures of 35 °C to 70 °C. Vitamins and minerals are preserved during the drying process. Damit die Apfelchips möglichst lange crunchy bleiben, solltest Du sie an einem kühlen und trockenen Ort lagern. Ungeöffnet besitzt die Packung bei richtiger Lagerung eine Mindesthaltbarkeit von etwa 12 Monaten nach Produktion.

Die Herstellung von knusprigen Apfelchips funktioniert optimal mithilfe eines Dörrautomaten. Durch die schonende Lufttrocknung wird den Apfelstücken Wasser entzogen, wodurch die Apfelstücke leichter und kleiner werden und folglich einfacher zu transportieren und zu lagern sind. Zusätzlich gehen keine Vitamine und Mineralstoffe nach Durchführung des Verfahrens verloren.
Bestmöglich solltest Du für das Dörren Apfelsorten wie “Boskoop”, “Elstar” und “Golden Delicious” verwenden. Aber unter uns – auf die Suche nach den richtigen Sorten und Equipment musst Du Dich gar nicht machen. Spar Dir lieber die kostbare Zeit und hole Dir mit ein paar Klicks den fruchtigen Genuss in nur wenigen Tagen ins Haus.
Hervorzuheben ist, dass wir statt üblichem Haushaltszucker Apfelsaft zum Süßen nutzen sowie keine künstliche Aromen zugesetzt haben, sodass unsere gedörrten Apfelchips einen naturbelassenen Genuss bescheren.
