MCT Oil – What Is It?
MCT stands for “Medium Chain Triglycerides” – in other words, medium-chain fatty acids. But how does organic C8 MCT oil differ from our organic MCT oil? Both oils are derived from coconut oil, which naturally contains medium-chain fatty acids. However, while the organic MCT oil is made from a mix of triglycerides – mainly caprylic acid (octanoic acid) and capric acid (decanoic acid) – this version contains a particularly high proportion of caprylic acid, also known as C8. MCT fats are popular in ketogenic diets as well as among low-carb and paleo enthusiasts. But even if you don’t follow a specific diet, it’s worth taking a closer look – or better still, a spoonful!
