We know they don't sound super appealing, but broken simply means that the cashews in the bag are not whole kernels; however, they still are delicious and crunchy cashew nuts, and we would never throw that away! So we decided to give them a second chance, and prepared 1kg bulk packs of nuts just for you! Once you try them, they will certainly become one of your most ordered KoRo products! And despite the only qualitative difference is in their looks, they are also a whole lot cheaper than optically perfect cashew kernels: what are you waiting for!
Whole cashews vs cashew pieces
Cashews are among the most beloved nuts. Botanically speaking, they are actually not nuts at all, but kernels! Our partners harvest the cashews in Vietnam, and once the cashew apples are removed from the "stem", the kernels are taken out of the nut shells and that's it! However, these are hard nuts to crack, hence the possibility of breakage during this process. Along with the entire cashews, some broken cashews are also produced. We include these in our LP broken goods. LP stands for large pieces, we only allow cashew pieces bigger than 4.65 mm into our bag. Even if they are not entire kernels, we want you to get cashew pieces, not cashew dust! We stand for transparency and only offer products of the highest quality. Some of the broken cashews may have a darker colour around the edges, but rest assured: this is not due to any quality defect. It is caused by weather conditions. These halves and pieces of cashews allow us to provide an equally delicious and cheaper alternative. But quality is still our top priority, so the product is free of any additives such as sugar, salt or oil and gives you that natural crunch.
Cashews – your kitchen allrounder
Broken cashews taste exactly the same as the whole version. The advantage is that you save money! If you were going to break them down anyway, you save on time and effort as well, meaning you can spend more time admiring our spicy cashews or our roasted cashews with caramel! But our cashews can be more than just a delicious snack. They can also be processed to delicious effect. With our cashews, you can improve any dish in just a few seconds. Crunchy or creamy, anything is possible with cashews.
Use them as a topping on asian curries, as the crunchy element in your snickers-inspired bowl or as part of a base for a creamy cashew-rice pudding. Our broken cashew pieces are your loyal partner in the kitchen. Climate impact
At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. We are now passing this information on to you so that you can make informed purchasing decisions and keep an eye on your personal carbon footprint. We also use these valuable findings ourselves, to try to make our supply chains even smarter in the future and monitor our CO2 footprint.

To make the work of our sustainability team easier, we have teamed up with the company Cozero. They support us with their decarbonisation software to calculate the CO2 emissions of our products. Our products go through a lot before they make their way into your pantry or snack bowl, so there is a lot to take into consideration: production, packaging, and logistics – to name just the big steps.
