Everything you should know about walnuts and walnut pieces
Why walnut pieces? Don't worry, we didn't break anything, but just like our friend the cashew nut, walnuts are botanically not seen as nuts, but as kernels. To reach the golden brown, crunchy interior - the walnut kernel - the nut has to be cracked, and this is not easy - the walnut is a pretty hard nut! When cracking the walnuts, you often get cracked kernels along with the ones that come out whole. These cracked walnut kernels are what we call walnut pieces. We love to snack on these walnut kernels ourselves, and we make sure that only big, chunky pieces of walnut make it into the packages - you won't find any annoying little crumbs. And if you plan on using chopped up walnuts anyway, you will save on money and spare your biceps the work, a win-win situation if we have ever seen one!
Organic walnut pieces – A real kitchen allrounder
Caramelized, roasted, ground - there are countless ways to use our walnuts. Give your banana bread a nutty kick or combine the sweetness of chocolate with our walnut pieces and lend your home an irresistible chocolate and walnut cookie scent – anything to make our nutty hearts beat faster. But walnut pieces can also be used for savory dishes. Gently roasted, walnuts can be a great addition to a quinoa bowl, bringing you that awesome crunch. You could also use them as a topping for your next salad or risotto, these walnut pieces are a guarantee highlight. The intense walnut flavor gives all your creations, salty or sweet, that decisive final touch. There are no limits to your creativity!

Climate impact
At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. We are now passing this information on to you so that you can make informed purchasing decisions and keep an eye on your personal carbon footprint. We also use these valuable findings ourselves, to try to make our supply chains even smarter in the future and monitor our CO2 footprint.
CO₂ emissions by product
To make the work of our sustainability team easier, we have teamed up with the company Cozero. They support us with their decarbonisation software to calculate the CO2 emissions of our products. Our products go through a lot before they make their way into your pantry or snack bowl, so there is a lot to take into consideration: production, packaging, and logistics – to name just the big steps.

CO₂ emission per product in comparison
Would you like to find out how well your favourite snack stacks up against other products in terms of carbon footprint? Say no more! To create comparability, we calculated the CO₂ emissions per 1 kg of our products and compared them with other products that end up on many people's plates every day, such as cheese, tofu, and many more. We also included coffee as a drink for comparison. So no matter if it is your favourite snack or your go-to kitchen product, you are now able to see exactly how it performs in our “CO₂ per kg of product” ranking.
Comparison of CO₂ emissions per product in kg
Disclaimer: Different methods (comparison products) - The CO2 emissions of the non-KoRo products come from a different data source. Therefore, there may be differences between their evaluation method and the evaluation of KoRo products.
Broken goods: What are they actually?
Chocolate, stone and cashew break, but our love of snacks doesn't! Bags full of supposedly defective nuts and chocolate are bestsellers in our house. But why are they cheaper than whole nuts or intact chocolate bars and what is actually behind the term "broken" or "B-goods"?
Wild cuisine of Europe: fruits, wild herbs & nuts
Are you as passionate a fan of the "7 vs. Wild" series as we are? We were inspired by the adventures of the participants and answered the call of the wild. We love the city, but nature also has so much to offer. As foodies, we are of course particularly interested in edible fruits, wild herbs, nuts and seeds. But don't worry, you don't have to become a survival expert to experience it for yourself! Try something new and discover outdoor cooking with us! And the best thing is: you don't even have to travel far to enjoy pure nature on your plate!

What more could you want - I can only recommend it
A good combination of beans and peas. They are salted just the right amount. Perfect to have as a snack instead of chips and crackers. I have also sprinkled them on top of soup and it was both delicious and beautiful.
