If you don't ask, you stay stupid", they explained the world to us. But did anyone ever ask about the miracle grain to which the children's series owes its name? It's high time we did!
There are a thousand great things to see in our shop, some you have to buy to understand.
So just browse through the shop, put the sesame directly into the shopping cart and let your Cookie Monster heart beat faster.
A real oldie
In your morning muesli, in sushi or on the classic sesame seed bun, sesame seeds are perhaps also an integral part of your everyday life. But the little grain can do so much more. With its birth around 4000 BC, the sesame plant is one of the oldest in the world. We appreciate it above all for its only edible part: its seeds. They don't just look good on your bread roll, but also enhance tofu, crackers, biscuits, laddu and even ice cream. They can also be used to make delicious tahini. For those with a sweet tooth, we have even added cocoa and coconut. Sesame oil is suitable for cooking and frying, but is also used in healing ointments.
What is the difference to black sesame?
Ali Baba once got hold of a valuable treasure with "Open Sesame". Sesame is also super valuable. Not only because of its taste, but also because of its ingredients. For example, sesame is a source of protein and fibre. It depends on the plant whether it bears black or light-coloured sesame seeds. Black sesame is considered the original form and has a slightly spicier taste than white sesame. Just try out which variety tastes better to you. You can find both in our shop.

Varieties & origins

Black sesame
Hard to find on the market, black sesame is considered the original form of sesame and is mainly harvested in the Himalayas. Stronger in taste than its white counterpart, it contains a lot of nutrients and gives your dishes a beautiful look.
The origin of the sesame is not easy to ascertain, as the oilseed plant has been around and cultivated for more than 2000 years. It is believed that its origin is in Africa or Asia, where most of the sesame production of today comes from, as it thrives best in tropical and subtropical climates. The sesame plant is an annual herb with a height of up to 2 meters. Did you know that sesame seeds are up to 50% oil?

Bulk elements - all about calcium, magnesium & co.
Calcium for strong bones, magnesium against muscle cramps - these are often the only things we can think of when it comes to bulk elements. Provided, of course, that you have ever heard the term bulk element. But what are calcium and magnesium really all about? And what other bulk elements are there?

Black tahini ice cream
Yes, you read correctly: black tahini. Because the clever KoRo heads have discovered that there are black and white sesame. And because we leave no stone unturned, we thought black sesame tahini was a must-try. The result: your new favorite sesame seed.
