Climate impact

At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. We are now passing this information on to you so that you can make informed purchasing decisions and keep an eye on your personal carbon footprint. We also use these valuable findings ourselves, to try to make our supply chains even smarter in the future and monitor our CO2 footprint.

CO₂ emissions by product

To make the work of our sustainability team easier, we have teamed up with the company Cozero. They support us with their decarbonisation software to calculate the CO2 emissions of our products. Our products go through a lot before they make their way into your pantry or snack bowl, so there is a lot to take into consideration: production, packaging, and logistics – to name just the big steps.

CO₂ emission per product in comparison

Would you like to find out how well your favourite snack stacks up against other products in terms of carbon footprint? Say no more! To create comparability, we calculated the CO₂ emissions per 1 kg of our products and compared them with other products that end up on many people's plates every day, such as cheese, tofu, and many more. We also included coffee as a drink for comparison. So no matter if it is your favourite snack or your go-to kitchen product, you are now able to see exactly how it performs in our “CO₂ per kg of product” ranking.

Before you order a large jar of tahini, of course you want to know more about the shelf life of the mush. After production, the tahini can be stored in a light-protected place for up to three years. Once opened, you should then store the sesame puree in the refrigerator. Don't worry: even at cooler temperatures, the tahini retains its deliciously liquid consistency. And so the jar is also empty faster than you thought at the beginning.
Hummus is very easy to make yourself. And if you take chickpeas from the can, the preparation is also relatively quick. We tell you a super simple hummus recipe. One thing should be said: The longer the finished spread rests, the more intense it is in taste. So be patient for one to two hours after preparation, it's worth it. You need a can of chickpeas, 2 tablespoons of tahini, fresh juice of half a lemon and garlic, cumin and paprika powder according to taste. All this off into the blender and add some cold water for the ultimate creaminess. Blend for about a minute and watch the hummus get creamier and creamier. Done! If your hummus is still too firm for you, just add a little more water. But be careful, because if the spread has become too liquid, then you can not thicken it again so easily. Then you can serve the hummus with a little olive oil and sesame seeds on top. Add pita bread, carrot sticks and couscous salad and you have a versatile dinner. The good thing about making hummus yourself? There are no limits to your creativity. You can refine the spread with avocado or beet and prepare it with or without garlic, depending on your taste. A popular variation is hummus based on white beans instead of chickpeas.
Our tahini from unhulled sesame seeds not only tastes great - it also looks great in the nutritional values. With a high content of calcium, the dark tahini provides you with valuable nutrients. In addition, the sesame seeds for our tahini come from controlled organic farming and are thus characterized by particularly high quality. If that's not a superfood.

The best

I've tried many, but this one is the tastiest. Tart sesame flavor, as it should be, is used as a butter substitute, for cooking and baking, so everywhere it goes. But I had to get used to the taste first, now I love it!

Klara purchase recommendation

I love the intense flavor and use it every day.

strong tahini

a bit strong if you are used to the usual light tahina like me, but I trust the product; because it is so pure, good even and crunchy consistency too; great on banana, melon...

Intense flavor and top quality.

I like this tahini best, it is of impeccable quality and tastes nice and nutty. It's almost a permanent order for me. In my opinion, you don't get such good quality in the shops.

To have on hand at all times!

Tahin very good, I always keep it in the pantry for when I don't feel like or have time to make it myself and I get a craving for hummus.

Again and again

Always a pleasure! For the perfect hummus you can't miss it!

Very satisfied, have already bought it several times

Super creamy quality. Goes well in sauces, dips and also sweet in cookies.

Delicious as an exotic ingredient

I tried the tahini on its own and it was a little too bitter for me, but I can imagine using it with hummus or in a sauce. I will try that next.

Etem A.

Very bad

It tastes very, very bitter and musty. I felt sick after eating it. Complained about it but no reply yet

Absolutely recommended to buy, very tasty due to the roasting of the sesame seeds. I love it for hummus and many other great dishes.
