Kombucha – what is that? Need a little cooling down on a hot summer day? Then refreshing kombucha drinks are your saviour in need! But what is kombucha actually? In a nutshell: kombucha is a fermented tea. Sweetened tea is mixed with a kombucha mushroom, the so-called "scoby mushroom". The latter is not connected with Scooby-Doo, the clumsy, puzzle-solving dog of Mystery, inc ;) The scoby mushroom is a tea mushroom. The acronym "scoby" stands for symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts. Fermentation is the key to obtaining the delicious drink. The mushroom is mixed with sweetened tea and does the job virtually by itself in no time at all. Even if the mushroom looks more like a slippery pancake, it is a real food refiner that turns sweetened tea into distinctive kombucha tea. There is now a wide range of Kombucha variations. One theory says that the name can be traced back to a Korean doctor called "Kombu", who treated an emperor with a special tea (Cha). Does the ginger and lime flavored kombucha drink contain sugar?

Sugar is important for the production of kombucha. In addition, a kombucha drink without sugar may not taste quite as delicious (this is, of course, a matter of taste). We used organic cane sugar to make our kombucha drink. There are 4.6 g of sugar in 100 g of our kombucha drink.

Can my child drink kombucha?

Just like pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, we recommend that children consult a pediatrician before drinking our Kombucha drink.

Is this product a deposit bottle?

Yes, our kombucha drink comes to your home in a deposit bottle with the DPG logo. In Germany, you can deposit the bottle in a one-way vending machine and get a €0.25 deposit back. Unfortunately, the return system is currently limited to Germany only.

What is the recommended dosage of kombucha?

We recommend consuming no more than 300 - 500 ml of the aromatic tea drink daily. If you are unsure, you should definitely contact your trusted doctor.

Is KoRo's kombucha alcohol-free?

Small amounts of alcohol are produced during the fermentation of sugar and yeast. The amount depends, among other things, on the ingredients, the temperature and the duration of fermentation. Since our Kombucha is pasteurized, the fermentation is stopped and therefore the alcohol content no longer changes. Our kombucha has an alcohol content of less than 0.5%.

How should I store the kombucha drink from KoRo?

Be sure to store the kombucha bottle in a cool place to maximize its shelf life. Once you have opened the bottle, you should drink it within 5 days. The minimum shelf life in the original sealed packaging is 24 months from the date of production.
