Buy now: Organic Azuki beans 2kg
Are you craving some plant protein? If that’s the case, our Azuki beans are just the right thing for you! They contain as much as 20 grams of protein per 100 grams, but this is just the beginning: these super beans are also super high-fibre. The typical white stripe makes sure that the bean is not getting confused with a kidney bean. They are versatile and enhance your diet. They are commonly eaten as dessert in China and Japan. Adzuki beans are also made into a paste, which is then used for a traditional dessert named Mochi in Japan. With our 2 kg bulk pack, you will have enough of them for whatever dish you like, without worrying that you might run out To guarantee that they are stored the right way and are durable for longer, check out our Ball Mason jars.
The beans have a nutty sweet taste and a floury consistency, and should be soaked in water before cooking in order to shorten the preparation time. The red soy beans are great both as a main ingredient or side dish.

- 200 grams of azuki beans (soaked overnight)
- 150 grams of sugar (e.g. raw cane sugar, coconut blossom sugar or another sugar alternative)
- optional: a pinch of salt
Put the soaked azuki beans in a pot, cover with water and boil briefly. Then drain the water before covering the beans with fresh water (about 1:2 ratio) and boil for about an hour until soft. The water change is necessary so that the beans do not taste bitter afterwards.
When the azuki beans are soft, drain the cooking water into a bowl. Then stir the sugar and salt into the azuki beans and puree to a paste using a blender or a hand blender. If you find the consistency too thick, you can easily stir in some of the cooking water. You can use the Anko paste pure, on bread or as a base for other desserts such as brownies or mochis.
