We have roasted our broad beans in a little oil and added some salt. The result: an incredible crunchy snack, that makes for a great alternative to crisps, salt sticks and such. Broad bean, fava bean, faba bean?!

The broad bean belongs to the legume family, more precisely to the subfamily of the papilionaceous plants. It is also called field bean, broad bean, horse bean, faba bean. The broad bean originated around the mediterranean but is grown world wide these days. It was originally considered a "poor people food" and is nowadays used, as it was back then, for soups, puree and salads, often in combination with bacon.

reduce the amount of salt

I love roasted broad beans (they're my guilty pleasure) but they're far too salty and I regret having taken two packets. I think they should be offered without salt (or with 50% less salt) (not recommended for people who shouldn't eat too much salt).

A healthy snack with a difference. I love the broad beans. But I like the taste and you get full of them pretty quickly :) I would also go for a puffed version without a lot of oil.

Saugute beans

I would describe them as a "hidden gem" among snacks. Very salty, very crunchy and definitely something different from nuts or potato chips. The consistency is reminiscent of banana chips.



Better than potato chips

For me, the best salty KoRo snack. Yes, with salt. Yes, not completely low in fat. But the ratio of carbohydrates to fiber is about 2:1 and that's definitely healthier than chips ;)
