Did you know? The peanut is technically no nut

Because of its name and how it is treated by cookbooks and stores, one could easily assume that the peanut is a nut. But, from a botanical point of view, the peanut is actually a legume - as the 'pea' in its English name implies. Its German one, Erdnuss (literary, earth nut), also makes sense, as peanuts don't grow on trees but underground - how amazing is that! All in all, with their high fat content and well-known nutty texture, we think that peanuts have well deserved their title of honorary nuts.

Oil-free roasted peanuts

Peanuts taste great raw too, but only roasted they become the evergreen, super popular snack classic they are. For our peanut kernels we chose to use the dry roasting process, which does not use any oil - we believe it to be unnecessary, since peanuts already have a high fat content, which gives them anyway a wonderfully roasted aroma. And there's more! With a whopping 24 grams of protein per 100, peanuts are a great source of plant-based protein; their fibre content is also pretty good - 8 grams per 100. Long story short, roasted peanuts are an optimal snack with a great taste and convincing nutritional values.

Caution: can cause addiction!

We all have been there: once you reach for the bowl of roasted peanuts, at the party or on the couch table, it is almost impossible to stop yourself. For those who can: respect! Climate impact

At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. We are now passing this information on to you so that you can make informed purchasing decisions and keep an eye on your personal carbon footprint. How much protein do roasted peanuts have?

Our roasted peanut kernels are a real source of protein with a whopping 24 g of protein per 100 g, making them an optimal snack in many respects.

What is special about our roasted peanut kernels?

Our roasted peanut kernels convince not only by their nutty and intensely spicy taste: We roast the peanuts in a gentle dry roasting process, which allows us to do without any additional oil. Generally, we do without any additives, so that you only get 100% of the gently roasted peanut kernels from us.

Where do peanuts grow?

Today, countries like Brazil, Senegal, Argentina and especially the USA account for 70% of global exports. We source the peanuts from Brazilian farmers.

Do the roasted peanuts contain gluten?

Peanuts are naturally gluten-free. However, there is an unlikely, but possible, cross-contamination with gluten during the manufacturing process, as our filler also processes foods containing gluten. For this reason, we do not describe our peanuts as gluten-free.

Can I use the peanuts as bird food?

Peanuts are often used as bird food. For this, however, it should be in any case peanut breakage, because birds usually do not even touch nuts with shell. However, you should rather inform yourself again in your local pet shop or, to be on the safe side, go directly to special peanut bird food. Whether roasted peanuts are so good for birds, we doubt but.

Are the roasted peanuts vegan?

Yes, our roasted peanut kernels are purely vegetable and therefore vegan. Except roasted peanut kernels literally nothing comes into our bag.
