This brown miraculous powder takes its name from an indigenous Brazilian population who was enjoying the taste and effects of guarana powder long before the rest of the world had been infected with guarana mania. Traditionally, the Guaraní people drink this high-energy beverage before the hunt. In modern Brazil guarana is still very popular – as tea, and in energy drinks. In summer, Guarana can also be a great addition to your cool drinks such as lemonade, iced-tea and so on.

What used to stimulate the Guaraní can also help you keep going during the exams or a long evening of work. As guarana is very high in fibre, the effects of caffeine are steadier and more gradual than those of coffee; moreover, you will not be left feeling weak and sleepy afterwards, as it can happen with coffee. How much guarana can I take per day?

Since guarana is highly caffeinated, you should pay attention to the dosage and not drink it like tap water. According to the European Food Safety Authority, adults without pre-existing conditions can consume up to 400 mg of caffeine daily. Our dosage recommendation: take a maximum of 3 g (one teaspoon) of guarana powder per day with plenty of water. Guarana is not suitable for children and adolescents, as well as for pregnant and nursing women.

How much caffeine does guarana powder contain compared to coffee?

Guarana does not have the reputation as a stimulant for nothing. The exact caffeine content of such a natural product varies from harvest to harvest, but as a rule of thumb, 1 g of guarana powder can be compared to the caffeine content of half a cup of coffee. So you can easily replace your coffee in the morning with a guarana shot.

What does guarana taste like?

If you drink guarana pure, your drink will taste tart and bitter. If you don't like the guarana taste, you can simply mix the high-caffeine powder into smoothies or teas.

How do I store guarana and what is the shelf life of the powder?

Before you order a whole kilogram of guarana, you naturally want to know more about the shelf life of the powder. When stored in a light-protected and dry place, guarana powder has a shelf life of at least 48 months after the date of production.

Can I take guarana powder during pregnancy and can my child drink guarana?

No. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, children and adolescents as well as people suffering from high blood pressure should not consume guarana. The reason for this is the high caffeine content.

Ein Freund der Tropen

Viel Niederschlag und nicht zu kalt: die Guaranapflanze fühlt sich im Amazonasgebiet am wohlsten, deswegen befinden sich auch dort die größten Anbaugebiete. Unser Guaranapulver stammt aus Brasilien.
