What is golden drink? Easy golden milk recipe  

We have mixed the best ingredients together for you so that you don't have to take over the magic mixture like a magic fairy in the morning: The full tuber power of turmeric and ginger with notes of cinnamon,  nutmeg, cardamom and pepper end up in our Golden Milk Mix. To prepare it, all you have to do is heat a cup of milk and stir in a tablespoon of spice mix. The same principle works with orange juice, water and any plant-based drink from oat drink to almond drink. Extra tip: If you prefer to make the Golden Spice Blend from a paste, you can also make a golden milk turmeric paste from the spice blend very quickly. Simply mix one tablespoon of powder with two tablespoons of warm water and then pour it into the foamed milk like an espresso shot. Voilà, the golden drink is ready!

Unser Golden Drink enthält von Natur aus Zucker – zugesetzt wird nichts! Durch das Trocknen verlieren die Gewürze Wasser, wodurch sich die Nährwerte pro 100 g konzentrieren. You may already know the drink from Instagram, where the golden drink has been hyped for several months. However, the yellow glowing hot drink is not a new phenomenon, but a classic in Ayurvedic cuisine for centuries. With the ingredients turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom and pepper, the spice blend brings a full-bodied spicy and earthy flavor to any milk or herbal drink. Thus, the Golden Drink is a great alternative to coffee, matcha or black tea.
Turmeric is the main ingredient of our Golden Powder and is considered a taboo food for pregnant women. Therefore, you should better avoid the drink during pregnancy.
Golden spice mixture contains 355 kcal per 100 g. For one cup of the Golden Drink you need about one teaspoon of spice. You can find the exact nutritional information next to the product description and on the label.
Unlike golden pastes, you do not have to worry about the shelf life of the spice mixture. It is best to store the spice mixture in a dry place protected from light. Thus, the powder gilds your morning drink even 18 months after production.

Diarrhea + too spicy, no exact details

I have often taken turmeric. Pure organic turmeric so far. I have always been fine with it. The first point I have to criticize is that there is no indication of the ratio in which this powder is composed (how much turmeric, pepper, ginger, etc.) This is interesting for two reasons: too much pepper in combination with turmeric can lead to liver damage, and too much ginger can lead to diarrhea. I was on sick leave because I suffered from diarrhea for two weeks (several times a day) until I realized that it could be caused by the golden milk. I stopped taking it and after 2 days I was fine. Drank it again 4 days later - diarrhea again... I will probably buy pure organic turmeric from the other manufacturer again.

Against stiff, aching joints

I am hoping for greater mobility of my stiff joints and I imagine that after about 10 days of taking the Golden Drink there has been a slight improvement. In any case, the intestinal activity (less diarrhea) is positively influenced. Dissolving the teaspoon of Golden Milk in cow's milk goes well and you get used to the strong taste of turmeric.

56g sugar per 100g :)

With a sugar content of 56 g per 100 g, I unfortunately can't classify this as healthy. For comparison: Nutella also contains 56 g of sugar per 100 g. What also irritates me: This enormous amount of sugar is hardly reflected in the list of ingredients. Sugar - or the corresponding types of sugar - should actually be at the top. Instead, it is not mentioned there, giving the impression that it contains less sugar than is actually the case.

We absolutely understand your concerns about the sugar content - especially if you are consciously paying attention to your diet, you naturally take a very close look. The drying process and the resulting dehydration concentrate the nutritional values of the spices per 100g. This means that if, for example, raw turmeric contains 5 g of carbohydrates per 100 g, there may be 50 g of carbohydrates per 100 g after drying. This explains the 56g of sugar per 100g in our Golden Milk spice blend. If you prepare a drink with the powder, you only need a small amount. As far as the order in the list of ingredients is concerned, this always depends on the proportion of the individual ingredients in the overall product. Even if the sweetness is clearly noticeable, no additional sugar has been added here.
