The Manuka Honey's origin

Manuka Honey is obtained from the nectar of the flowers of the South Sea myrtle - Leptospermum scoparium. Since the South Sea myrtle is called Manuka by the natives of New Zealand, it is widely known as Manuka Shrub. Manuka has long been used by the Maori as a medicinal plant. The possibility of obtaining Manuka honey was discovered relatively late, however, when missionaries brought honey bees into the country in 1839. Now, where exactly is the Manuka Honey made? The real Manuka Honey comes exclusively from New Zealand and small parts of Australia. The honeycombs of the beehives set up between wild Manuka bushes are harvested gently at the time of flowering.
