Recipes with cinnamon sticks

The beautiful cinnamon sticks are particularly popular around Christmas time, when they are used for a wide range of recipes. Their flavour can't be missing when baking gingerbread, apple strudel or cinnamon rolls. But there are also lesser common ways to use it. We love to make it into an irresistible drink for cold winter mornings by adding cinnamon and agave syrup to our hot drink of choice. You can also use Ceylon cinnamon in hearty dishes, get creative! In Northern Africa and Asia, cinnamon is used as a spice on meats. It is also a component of these areas most used spice mixes, such as five spice, Ras El Hanout-, Garam Masala- and curry spice mixtures.

Ceylon cinnamon directly from the tree

Where does the spice that we love to add to our porridge really come from? Cinnamon sticks are the rolled bark of cinnamon trees, which belong to the laurel family. So what is it about "Ceylon" cinnamon? Ceylon cinnamon is a special type of cinnamon. Unlike Cassia cinnamon, which comes from China, Ceylon cinnamon comes from Sri Lanka. Cassia cinnamon sticks are coarser and thicker than those of Ceylon cinnamon. They are also darker in colour and have a more intense smell. Ceylon cinnamon usually has a lower coumarin content than other cinnamon varieties and is therefore preferred by many.

Questions & answers: Ceylon cinnamon sticks 500 g
No search results.
To produce cinnamon, the bark of the cinnamon tree is stripped of the outer layers. The Ceylon cinnamon is harvested in very thin layers of bark, which are then stitched together so that their appearance resembles a cigar. The cinnamon sticks are then dried.
You should also be careful with cinnamon when breastfeeding, as large amounts of the spice can lead to side effects. We therefore recommend that you consult with your doctor.
Sure! For savory dishes, such as stews, you can of course also give the cinnamon sticks whole in the pot. But if you need ground cinnamon, you can grind the cinnamon stick with a grater. If it does not have to be too precise, a crushing with the mortar is also sufficient. Our tip: Take a look at our ground organic Ceylon cinnamon - so you can save the crushing of the cinnamon sticks.
To ensure that the cinnamon retains its intense aroma for as long as possible, you should store the spice in a cool, dry place. Our Ball Mason Jars are ideal for this purpose.
Yes and no - Ceylon cinnamon is definitely a better choice for your baby due to its lower coumarin content. However, only small amounts of cinnamon are enough to cause lasting harm to your baby. We therefore recommend that you do not give your baby organic Ceylon cinnamon.
Cassia cinnamon can be harmful to dogs due to its generally higher coumarin content. Ceylon cinnamon is harmless in small quantities and can even do your dog some good. However, you should discuss the exact amount with your veterinarian.

Good evening, I haven't tasted them yet but at first sight they seem to be of good quality. On the other hand, the use-by date is set at 30/09/2023, so I'd have liked at least two years, if not more!
